Thread regarding Bose layoffs

Long live Bose

Market conditions cause challenges. And, you know, the axe could fall on my tenure.

Have faith. I believe the company will do the best that it can to keep everyone it can. And, on the up side, I have a massive number of job inquiries from other companies.

We shall all prevail and have thanks to give for all we’ve learned and experienced. And, in the end, it will all be good. No worries.

Just look at this 'Long Live Bose' thread.

Bose survived well before social media, when it could tell customers and reviewers what it wanted. Now people say what they experience.

This is a huge difference that Bose management / managers seasoned in previous decades and marketing has not caught up with.

Covid 19 is affecting just last few months and every consumer electronics company is facing this. Bose layofffs and the causes of layoffs have a much longer history.

Think about the mistake of eco1 eco2 compatibility the loyal customers who bought that got completely shut out by bose, they lost all trust. We did nothing to fix it. John Gordon should of stayed he was a visionary who would of led meaningful change

I like that people are trying to be positive but sadly what Bose once was, will never come relatively close to that ever again. Period. Bose missed the mark. Everyone new that companies would catch up and Bose has been unable to push away from the pack and now it’s too late to recover at this point. The head of global supply chain brought limited external experience to the company and has a degree from the University of Phoenix. I don’t need to spend time LinkedIn stalking other heads from competitors but I highly doubt they would put people in those types of leaderships roles. One example from many. Pack it up.

Just remember whoever posted that,
Jobs have been sent to Manila, plants have been sold to Flex, I would not be shocked to see Tijuana get sold and Jeffersonville be gone soon. The reality is Bose has outsourced a lot of jobs, they need to work on rebuilding those things, those are band aids.

It’s interesting to see my first comment deleted, presumably because some of my initial sentiments were best described by the expletives that I offered up.

I hear all of ya. Bunch of down votes on these thoughtS, after having a bunch of upvotes on my deleted thoughts.

To answer one question, yes, I heard about retention bonuses for some... I wasn’t in that group.

I can have envy over that, or I can try and understand how a business has to make decisions based on value streams in order to survive.

I think there’s truth to The assertion that prior management went off course. As a result, they’ve been cut from the lineup. I think we’ll now see a turn-around. I truly believe that Bose will come back and be stronger than ever.

Now, truth is, I didn’t get the retention bonus, because I’m not in the value stream that’s required for the company’s continued existence. It hurts to come to that realization, but it’s also a truth that can serve to change my life for the better.

In short, I know it’s a tough time. But if we’re standing in a pile of , all we have to do is walk out of it. My approach is to look for other opportunities in the area, to be grateful for what I’ve learned at Bose, and to wish Bose well in the upcoming years.

I think once this all shakes out, Bose will be poised for creating good products through clarity of vision, purpose, and prioritization of efforts internally. And those of us who are not in a central value stream presently can rectify that by going where we’re needed. This can all be a win-win if we have the right attitude about it.

"I believe the company will do the best that it can to keep everyone it can."

In reality, frequent layoffs are now part of the executive/management culture at Bose. This has been the case since the first of the layoff's during Bob's tenure as CEO. At any time, they can dump the assets that are expendable, and the majority of employees are always considered expendable. Layoffs can be the ready-made "solution" to egregious management failures and executive short-sighted outlooks.

I think that’s a load of garbage. Your future is selling cheap products at wal mart and Best Buy.
Products like the video wave lifestyle and even eco-two products are no longer going to happen we dropped the ball completely from eco-when the eco-two and Sonos destroyed us Sony starting to get out us with headphones and Apple will start to get us soon even more so with more headphones coming nothing is going to change but hey at least we introduced a QC 35 upgrade with the damn microphone and now we have a gaming headset on a product that should be off the market because it’s almost 5 years old but yeah seems like great product decisions

Market is always evolving. Good luck with your job search!
Also, I don't think the company is doing enough to keep everyone on-board.

Did you hear about retention bonus, my friend?
