Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

What Taxes?

We were told we pay property taxes on 336 Broadway. We were told we owed back taxes from 2014-2017, even though we paid “Rent Escrow” (which, as of August 2019, is being called Highbridge Tax) each month during those year. Luckily, a few of us saved MANY years of monthly statements to look back on! Upon the ex BA’s request in August 2019 we authorized close to $15,000 to be paid, according to the monthly financial statement another $11,000 (not requested or authorized by the Board) was paid in October 2019, and we are now paying $1,385 each month to H.Bridge Taxes. BTW...$6,500 was paid to H.Bridge for rent in October 2019. Then it goes back to rent as usual, $3,250. Does any of this seem right to anyone?! NOPE, NOT AT ALL!! Here’s the thing, tax records are public record. THERE ARE NO TAX OR UTILITY BILLS LISTED FOR 336 BROADWAY!! The address is listed on the Schenectady County website, Parcel ID # 39.79-2-19, but there are no bills and no receipts of payment. See for yourself. www.cityofschenectady.com
click on How Do I... click on Citizen Self Service on the right, Real Estate, type in only the street name Broadway, type in a year, NOTHING MORE. Many properties will pop up. Scroll down to find 336. Click on Parcel ID # and nothing will come up, it shows there are no tax bills or receipts for that location. We are being lied to, folks. What is going on and who did our money go to. Maybe the ex BA needs to come out of hiding and start answering some questions.

Doesn’t matter how many are paying attention. What matters is WHO is paying attention. People stop using their voice when they realize it goes unheard and doesn’t matter. The membership had no power, the top few at the hall took it from us. It’s out of our hands at this point. The Feds will clean it up as soon as their “audit” or investigation, whatever it’s called, is over. All we can do is wait.

Im sure several people voiced concern at their meetings today about the Audit, and about the taxes issue among other troubling things! The same concerns will also come up at tomorrow’s meetings, and surely posts will get made to share what is said at each meeting. I mean, im certain the majority is deeply concerned and wants to be engaged to get involved and see things made right! Im also certain that id have to be a id–t to believe more than a cple dozen 301 members are actually even paying attention, let alone willing to get involved to make sweeping changes!!

Anybody can give documents to help with the audit. They can’t tell us anything but they are happy to take whatever we have that might help. Not getting rid of paperwork for years was useful for once.

Audit isn’t done. It would be on the Department of Labor website. Maybe some of you don’t know how it works. The Feds being involved for a routine audit for this long is not a good sign. Handcuffs are a strong possibility although I’m sure these boys will be crying and taking plea deals. Anyone trying to minimize these concerns means you just might be benefiting from what’s going on. In that case, of course you don’t want anyone looking too deep into it or pointing it out. The fact of the matter is nobody knows for sure what’s going on. We do know that the numbers don’t add up, it does not make sense, and we aren’t given correct information when it’s asked for. It’s worth looking into. Anyone who is ok with their money being used in a way that’s not authorized doesn’t have to read the concerns. Let’s all hope the audit comes back squeaky clean so we can thank our boys that hold our money and tell them they’re doing good work.

You don’t know whether I’m at meetings or not. You don’t know who I am. You don’t know what I know. You obviously don’t know that I’m far from timid. Questions were asked, answers were lies. Proof is never provided, excuses are always made as to why it can’t be. Only an id–t would continue to ask the same people who consistently lie. Don’t you get it? They are not there to support us. They are not there for the membership. They don’t try to prevent lay-off’s. They make sweetheart deals in private that BENEFIT THE COMPANY...perfect example is the Consolidation Agreement. Then the current P lies to make us believe all of them signed off on the agreement when only he and the ex BA did. Ex BA is MIA, nobody has seen him. It was secretive where he was going when he resigned. No resignation letter provided even though it was asked for. There’s a reason for the lies and it can’t be good. The ones in charge of the money have a different agenda. They can talk all they want, YOU can believe the BS and keep allowing them to live high off your dime. Many of us refuse and will make sure it stops. With the help of the Feds, of course. That audit is taking a long time, I’m sure they’ve got a lot of sh– to go through.

Hey "Timid One". I find it funny that you make these accusations on an anonymous website yet myself and other members actually attended the recent membership meetings which I assume you did not, and not once did we see a hand go up and question any piece of the monthly financial statement or back taxes?? Or question the unions current rent agreement with high bridge?? I assume the union would have records and receipts for these bills as would high bridge as the landlord! Call high bridge and ask them if you have to! Maybe you should start there instead of wasting all of our time with your baseless accusations and BS! I don't agree with everything the Hall does, never have an never will. If you have a problem, run for office Timid One! But a lot of us are going to have actual problems soon like having NO JOBS after the layoffs from this disloyal piece of c-ap company!!

I’m glad I never came back from layoff. Short changed the T Rate and now the cat is out of the bag. The dues paid went in someone’s pocket for personal bonuses.

About 90% positive that property taxes for 336 Broadway are combined with addresses 340 Broadway and 326 Broadway, Highbridge owns all of those properties. They are all under Parcel ID 39.79-2-17.1 Property Taxes for that Parcel, for a full year, are about $15,000. As of June 2020 we already paid over $20,000 in Highbridge Taxes. And the amount we paid in 2019 is astronomical. I call BS. We are not the only ones who rent the hall from Highbridge, we share the building. We should be sharing taxes. Actually, it should be included in the rent we pay. There is no reason for the excess amount of money we are paying. The fckers that are responsible for our money have a lot to answer for. Come on Feds.
