I want genuine answers why someone working at Greenway wants/needs to be working in physical building? I mean all this dumpster gang logic of economy, team work, motivation etc is not enough. If you can work from home why change it?

You must have a job full of tangible tasks that do not require continuous interaction with team members. How lucky you are.
I get much more done WFH than in the GW office. I do not have any distractions. The only problem is I have to force myself to get up on the hour and walk so many steps, get HR up then back to my desk. And meetings online more efficient, etc.
Microsoft and Facebook are allowing for more employees to WFH. Thing is if you move to an area that is cheaper than where your actual job is they will reserve the right to institute a pay cut. It was just a matter of time before this was going to happen. I think it will come down to WFH will equal less of a salary and bonus structure.
Work from home should pay much less due to the expanded number of workers available. Do you want to make 50% of what you make now? You may not even have a job if more workers are available. It is simply supply and demand forces at play.
Guess the @1sd are the ones taking 2 hours coffee break one in the morning and one in the after to social in the office, making friends and axxxxing. This WFH must be k–ling you, right . For the past 7 months, people started to notice that there is barely anything coming from you. Virtual axxxing is it as effective. Of course you can not wait to go back to the office start your routine again. Man, it is not going to work. Results are results. Hard to steal credit now, right. You leave all the trace in the teams.
I want us to physically work from Greenway just to upset whiners like you.
I will continue to push for work from GW just to make the people who annoy me miserable lol.
LAPC here and Oxy’s openness so far with WFH has been the first breath of fresh air after all the ridiculousness we have been d–g through.
I agree with below poster that you can tell the people who are not pulling their weight. You can actually tell even more so with WFH. It’s much easier for me to keep up with my team this way. Discussions are always more focused on how we can help each other.
For people that can not work at home are incompetent and just need the office setting to get attention, or visibility. We are results oriented. I think that is why we have the BAR to quantify the contribution.
I have more distractions in the office than at home, plus I save on driving time staying home and have ended up working longer hours.
I understand for others it’s the opposite and can’t get anything done at home.
Hope we can have a hybrid model, I am not planning to go in at all until I’m told to and I am a second level manager. I told my group that it is entirely optional. It is easy to tell who gets the work done and who doesn't, and can be addressed with good communication.
next thing you know you will want WFH costs reimbursed. Like snack foods, doggie treats, etc.
Not this again. Get it through your brain that working in an office is just the way it is done. What are you like 10 years old?
Because 80% of employees will SAY that they are just as productive at home, but in reality only 20% actually are. I see it across multiple organizations.
The lives you people think you can destroy through bullying and persecution. The people you think you are entitled to victimize with this entitlement that there be no consequence on you at all, and THIS is what you focus on. Work from home??! THIS is what you people believe you should be working on as if its the biggest impact on your lives??
Have you learned nothing of the consequences time after time across this country regarding bullying and persecution?
I think some benefit from direct supervision. Not everyone is equipped to work from home either equipment wise or just not disciplined enough. I would like to see us move to a hybrid policy of maybe coming into work one week a month or one day a week. We could then go to a 4 day work week. People at home should be able to get 10 hours a day in over the course of the day. Thing is I think they just renewed the lease in Greenway and The Woodlands lease is for 12 more years. It would be nice to get out of the Greenway lease and do the hybrid model with The Woodlands campus being the hub. That building is newer and has larger conference rooms we could convert into social distancing easier. The drive would not be as bad if you only have to do it a week a month or a day a month.
