Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Any Word?

We had HR at our facility today but there has been no word on anything and I’ve heard of no one getting laid off yet. Anyone know anything?

Very well said, by the post below. Leadership has to be aware that the most ingenious of strategies is doomed to fail if the people who make up the company don’t believe in it. Transparency and an investment in their people helps to gain that buy in.

Was the sarcasm really necessary when people are worried about the constant rumors and the lack of empathy from their leadership? It’s a me me mentality and it has been for far too long. Winning companies are built by winning people who promote transparency not make fun of it. And yes many have been able to move on and make more money and find they are valued again for the positivity and the contribution they bring. There have been layoffs several times a year since Staples was acquired moving through the organization. In these times even more stressful due to the number of people out of work. People are worried about taking care of their families and what’s going on in the world around them. You want to work for a company that actually cares about you and appreciates the work that you do and doesn’t mock you for sharing information that you heard to validate if anyone else is hearing it. The statement was that a VP shared information, initials were given and some very specific information was communicated regarding the liberties that were being taken by salespeople for expenses and car allowances. Sounds very specific to me. If associates trusted their leadership to tell the truth and support the people that are working hard each and every day. The company could progress. Target, Walmart, and Amazon are all thriving. You can’t treat your associates like they don’t matter and or just a number and expect the dedication and results the company use to produce. There was pride in working for a company that not only cared about their team members but was excited to achieve success together. One team one dream means nothing when spoken by someone that only has one ineffective team that surrounds her at the silver tower. Completely disconnected from the business and doesn’t care about the real company at all. Positive Actions speak louder than words. Be a positive influencer and have respect for what was built and stop tearing it down to build something new that won’t be as strong if you only would look at the foundation that came before that was built in passion, pride, drive, salesmanship, and always with a focus on the customer. Internal and external.

It was a top secret mission. But , someone said they had heard from one of their friends who knows someone that works close to a former employee that saw on social media that the HR people were walking through the facility with a notepad and placing a hash mark on the paper every time they saw a person. They are obviously counting heads and plan a major reduction in people . OMG ... it’s a sinking ship . I’ll do better if I go work somewhere else that will appreciate me and will pay me three times more than I am currently making and give me 10 weeks vacation and promise transparency on everything and have cool values and respect the amazing and totally wonderful insights I have on all things because I am me .
