Thread regarding Raytheon Co. layoffs

Layoffs are coming

Don't lull yourself into a false sense of security. It might not be today or next week, but we are due for a major cleanup. Too many overlapping jobs to last much longer. Realistically, it's really not sustainable long term either. I just wish that for once they'd cut people who really need to be cut instead of some of our best and most productive employees.

I’m not exactly sure anyone is going to put too much emphasis on older Raytheon employees that will opt for retirement with this pandemic economically we’re probably going to be sent back a year or two in any retirement plan and with this next 2021 2022 there’s going to be a decrease in defense spending so those years are going to be skeleton then really wouldn’t be the best idea to retire at this moment simply due to the fact of the level of uncertainty

Legacy Raytheon won’t have anything happen until after Christmas more than likely. Like someone in this post said earlier, they’re waiting to see how many they lose to retirement this year. They’re likely going to push out a lot of the ones that want stick around for another year or two. I expect by February whatever is going to happen to legacy Raytheon should be in full swing by then. I also expect that if Trump gets re-elected and sends another round of checks out, next years defense spending will take a substantial hit. If Biden is elected then I expect there will be defense spending cuts. Either way without getting political, I suspect defense spending to get affected and therefore legacy Raytheon to be affected next year

Are you talking about legacy Raytheon? Also, managers are getting laid off so they ste in the same boat. Unlike the old days where employees were laid off and the managers were kept with nobody to manage. Those days are over.

A lot of older pension employees in legacy Raytheon will be retiring soon. The company will wait and see how many leave EOY before any major cleanup.
