Guess what?.....still here! I think milby will always be here because people WANT it to shut down so bad.
Rumors are true, milby is closing its shop December 29th. Layoff notices are coming soon. Will post if I hear anything more
Most likely the rumors are true. Houston mechanical took a 30% reduction in force on the car side in July (union employees). Milby didn’t really see any reduction of force besides management, so it would make sense that milby is slated for layoffs or even total closure by the end of the year or even sometime within the first quarter of 2021.

Is there any way that our Milby diesel shop can get some recliner chairs & more rooms so that we can get some better sleep . ?
This is ridiculous that our sleeping quarters have only 2 rooms to sleep in , this would not be necessary if only we had more locomotives to work on , and less people to the job .

Ft Worth announced the Houston Complex restructuring earlier this week. How is this even an issue? They already said it’s coming, why are people questioning it? This thread is really strange.

Well when I worked there if it does its because the contractor oversight was near zero during the shop/drop pit rebuild and install. Sub-par to no standard work from the contractors, management wouldn't take "helpful" work suggestions, incompetent so called locomotive experts with "experience"...etc.
But...but...but I was optimistic!
They were outta git me and wuz no rumor. I was a supervisor for 15 years and I didn’t see it coming. Never missed a day at work They only thing I did was fat finger someone’s time
What production. Them's workers they got can't even read.
Word here at campus is Houston is next on the chopping block citing HR calls, injuries, and low production FWIW. Apparently the latest injury was the last straw along with production issues

I helped bring Silsbee down and then transferred out
I’ve worked on transportation side for 17 years across the system. That shop is by far the worst when it comes to mechanical ability. Units barely work when they leave. The mechanical guys all look clueless when asked questions. None of them would be worth a lick in other shops from what I’ve witnessed. Shutting it down wouldn’t surprise any of us
I want to transfer over to the REAL railroad side of BNSF. Burlington Northern was the savior of ATSF and they should dump them quick.
Milby is not by any means BNSF standards! It is Santa Fe standards if there is any.
Good riddance. Worst shop on the system. Drags the entire BNSF name down. Addition from subtraction dumping that cesspool
Nothing to worry about. Shops only close after employees are instructed to clean out lockers and turn in tools. Until that happens don’t panic.
Just people starting rumors and c-ap for the shop. Sounds like someone ain't happy at the shop or something.
Unless they start issuing scuba suits as PPE there’s never gonna be wheel change outs in that flood zone

Don't believe it to be true. Milby suppose to the shop of the south in the division to do wheel change outs.
I used to be an employee there and by far I can tell ya them 1st shifters have run the wheels off with their exceptional work.
Wouldn’t surprise me at all. I’ve seen that place. It’s a disaster location. Floods constantly, high fail rates and terrible management and workers. Probably the worst on the entire system by far. They’ve come close to shutting it down in the past, could be legit considering the way the year is shaking out.
