Which parts of Commscope make money or might appeal to a buyer if someone broke up the company.

Everyone knows that Commscope liked the Ruckus brand name. At least that is what they hinted at in the quarterly results meetings. You do know that Commscope is mostly an obscure company.

I think Commscope thought that they were going to get Motorola back and compete against Nokia. Thinking back to the quarterly results meetings, it was difficult to comprehend what they were talking about. I guess before Covid, we bought it hook line and sinker.

Financially, I am still not sure why Commscope bought Ruckus. And I'm not sure Commscope knows why they bought Ruckus. And I'm sure Commscope's competitors are happy the spent so much money on Ruckus. Because everyone in the industry knows that they paid too much.

Short of a miracle, I am confident that Commscope will eventually have to cut their losses.

But there will probably be a HOLE LOT of Layoffs before that happens. Might not be anything left but an empty carcass.

Heard about that Ruckus will be separated as a BU again. The integration into Commscope was a big management failure. Best would be to bring Ruckus again as separate company to the market. Implement a professional management. Buy security and SDWAN. This is the way to survive in this extremely changing market. Who cares about the cable business and further Arris business which brings no money? Only with that approach Ruckus can prevent that good people will leave the company. Commscope has nothing in their portfolio to meet the current requirements to survive Covid 19. With WiFi their will be a chance and it must be cleverly marketed. The company needs a second Dan Rabinovitsj to get out of sh– water. I left the company some months ago and and I perceive Ruckus as an absolute niche player by now. Ruckus drowns in the swamp of Commscope who has not understood that the market is not as it was 20 years ago. Blatant management mistakes have been made. Commscope should be smashed asap.

What parts of CommScope look profitable to an outside company?

I don't see Google coming near CommScope - they like high margin, technologically s-xy stuff, not cables and boxes.

Maybe private equity

Maybe a large foreign cable manufacturer?
