Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Does anyone really know ?

Does anyone really know what was the criteria for who was to stay and who was let go ? I hear it was if you made more than $14 in a associates role and if you was a lead as well.

Well I think about it. If you was making high dollar amounts and let’s say you was in shoes. Your getting commissions plus high hourly. In long term. Which their goal is to be open sell no commissions why do they need you ? They wanna make money not pay someone with amazing sales talent. They rather have a lazy Millennial who barely shows up to work be a clerk hence why they are gonna get rid of runners. It’s the long term cost and the end goal. Macy’s wants to be kohl’s

In our store salary and performance didn't matter because majority of people refused due to risk and store mgr.! So regardless of salary they took back anyone that was willing and those with a big salary were the first to go back. A lot to lose!

My score card was the best in my dept and 2nd beat in store and I was laid off. I was also making twice what a normal associate makes

Definitely payroll.....and benefits. They cut what was going to cost them long term.

"Payroll" was absolutely the main factor. I don't know if it was specifically $14, that would largely vary by state.
