Thread regarding Marathon Oil Corp. layoffs

First in Class

Well, MRO is FINALLY at the head of its peer group. Finally got there, notwithstanding that the Wall Street Journal ranks MRO as 4th or 5th among the shale companies, which is all MRO is any more.

But, wanting to be FIRST IN CLASS, this week, retired Employees over 65 got their notification that the health care benefit they worked many years to obtain has been canceled as of 2021.

This benefit helped elderly MRO Retirees to pay for the supplemental insurance that is required with Medicare, unless one wants to pay a lot more out of pocket.

Congratulations, Lee, as you finally have become first in class at something.

At least they still pay for Health Care up to age 65. That being said, I wish I had retired from MPC, where they still offer the post-65 benefit.

This HR administration has shown blatant unapologetic age discrimination for years now.

LT crushed the stockholdings of all people who work for MRO, and those who worked there and retired , and depended on the healthcare and stock performance. Thanks LT!

That Marathon is doing this to its elderly former employees, unilaterally canceling the deal they had for decades, is beyond repugnant. Yet, year in & year out, the CEO keeps getting undeserved raises for taking this once proud company under. Can’t help but wonder how he would feel if these elderly folk included HIS parents and that they depended on this...

This speaks VOLUMES about the type of company Marathon is. To take this away from people (the ELDERLY) who already earned it and did not plan a lifetime in advance for having to pay for the cost of healthcare is down right evil. This company is completely untrustworthy to its employees. I cannot fathom doing more than a few year stint here.

Healthcare in retirement is even scarier than taxes. I feel for all those retirees who planned for (and earned) benefits that aren't going to be there. Companies really don't give two $#!+$ about their employees.
