I hesitate to even post this... I don't want to give any ideas, but it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Macy's forced some of us to work on Christmas day doing fulfillment and curbside. Any non-Christmas celebrbraters out there who would work that?

All this said. Someone will pick up the shifts. Associates jumped all over the Thanksgiving shifts
Interesting you say - "I’m not Christian by any means ... but I do celebrate Christmas as a gift-giving, tree decorating, wintertime holiday."
You are participating in Christian based activities...
I got a idea. Quit and get a job at Amazon.
Hey, if you don't like signing up for time and half for Thanksgiving, boy are you going to love what the holiday schedule looks like this year. How do you feel about store hours the day before Thanksgiving working until midnight, if you're lucky you'll get home around 1am on Thanksgiving day, then you can pickup a shift at time and half, and then start back again on Friday at 5am, or pickup a late shift since we we are again open until midnight.
Then hold on to you hats as we start opening earlier and closing later every week until we get to the weekend before Christmas when we are open early and closing at midnight all the way through the 23rd. It should be a joy to see what our handful of managers are going to look like by the time we get to Christmas. Between these crazy long days and expected fulfillment volumes even heavier than last year due to Covid, you will have plenty of opportunity to pick up hours even if you don't work on Thanksgiving day.
Why are associates willing to work Thanksgiving day? Yeah, I know, "time-and-a-half". The real question is why are people willing to sell out for a little more cash, because that is all we are really talking about. Time-and-a-half for a few hours in place of spending precious time with family and or friends (even during the new Covid-normal.) If associates are truly angry about "being forced to work" Thanksgiving (especially now when other retailers will be closed) then put your feet where your mouth is and DON'T DO IT. Take a stand. There are power in numbers. If no one says "yes" then Macy's will be forced to staff the store this year with managers and hopefully this will be the last Thanksgiving that anyone at Macy's has to work. Haven't we all learned how precious life is these last few trying months dealing with a deadly pandemic. Who knows if those of you reading this, and your loved ones, will even BE HERE next Thanksgiving. And if we all keep saying "yes" to working Thanksgiving- can Christmas and Easter be far behind?? (I don't mean to slight other religions which are just as important to those who practice them.) Just say "NO, I won't work Thanksgiving because time with my family is more important than filling orders for stuff no one NEEDS from a store like Macy's. I mean, we're not selling food or medicine. For the most part, we sell clothes. So please Don't sell your soul for a few hours of "time-and-a-half". Do you think Jeff will be pulling orders on Thanksgiving? It's not about him being rich and not needing the money as much as the rest of us. Jeff just has his priorities straight and believe me, his priority is not us.
The arse kissers....
In a heartbeat, yes!
