Why the hell are we hiring people when we've already had major layoffs and are now waiting for round 2? Why would the company do that? I understand having to cut costs when the pandemic is affecting pretty much everybody, but then to turn around and hire people? That's just a slap in the face to loyal employees who are now jobless and have no idea why.

Yes I remember that I was working for a small company when that was going on with att buy ncr and decided to send a resume, I got and interview. I showed up and found it was a four hour interview all video taped. Tape was sent to a third party to review. Tuff interview but I got the job and was happy for my first 8 years till the c-ap started and it started tear it self apart and foolish spending and ceo turn overs. To high of a salary for upper management that were making bad decisions for the future etc etc etc...
Att bought ncr due to there lose in the home market which they or ncr shouldn’t have been in in my opinion. The big reason was att chance to dump their union they been trying to get rid of. So when they bought ncr , every tech was essential let go but had the opportunity to interview with ncr to be hired. Most probably didn’t interview and look elsewhere in att or bells labs. Manager tho were allowed to take other jobs with an att incentive of 3 xtra years paid by them while still being paid by ncr. That wasn’t a bad deal for them so most of the gleefully came over. I remember one tech so p-ss-d of he had 7 days to retirement from att and wasn’t grandfathered in so he has to sue to get try and get his 7 days. Don’t know the out come.
It’s worth remembering that today’s NCR is nothing like the storied NCR of yesteryear.
AT&T bought the old, innovative, employee-valuing NCR. They chewed off the good bits and then spat out the useless residue as the “new” NCR. And it’s only gone downhill since then.
Just given a RIF after 7 years of being a top performer. I can’t believe it..... Don’t walk away from NCR.. RUN.
Well look at it this way their just hiring cheaper labor that they can riff in 2 years and hire more cheaper labor. It’s the new ncr game plan. And as your ceo confirmed their is more hiring in Serbia than at that new big fancy wasted Atlanta building. And there would be more people in Serbia than Atlanta. Do you realize how many people were let go when they decided to move the HQ from Dayton Ohio to Atlanta. Georgia promised them many perks to relocate if they hired so many Georgia people. Guess what, ncr didn’t receive as many perks promised because they didn’t hire the required headcount. They moved not only to get some perks and tax breaks but also knew they would be letting go some high paid people and so wouldn’t go anyway. Peach tree city at that time was going to be the new HQ too. That didn’t last long. So If I was a new hire, I wouldn’t expect to last too long either. Writing been on the wall.
Yup all you cheap new hires get in a year or two and get out. Long gone is is the mantra that if you work hard and dedication the company will reward you with your efforts. And you’ll live to retirement with a nice pension and benefits. That was the goal in the 70 80 and 90s. Just so you know they froze the pension in 2000 no one else allowed in. I’m sure that never been expressed to you new hires.
But a lot of big companies did the same. It’s up to you and your investment for your future. It would be better to take a lower salary and try to work in the government, fed or state. Hell your mailman has a gov pension. And has no extra education.
“ I will never work for a company like this again. They don't really care about employees, they only care about their bottom line and stock price.”
I could not agree more. I was at the company 7 years and given a RIF for no reason. This isn’t how you treat loyal employees.
COVID is a perfect excuse to execute their plan. Less attention. They would have done it anyway without COVID.
I will never work for a company like this again. They don't really care about employees, they only care about their bottom line and stock price. Tons of american jobs outsourced. Good hard working Americans who put in the work for many years to make this company successful just to be let go like they are lint on a shirt. NCR is not the American company it used to be, that is for certain, it is just a shell of itself. Just like HP. Very sad!

What @djpn+17eD4VcX said. 100%.
Just look at ncr dot com web site, how many employees do you see that are 40 years of age or more. They don’t want older more expensive employees with 4 weeks vacations. Ncr will use or keep some older employees to so it not obvious there only laying off older people. They also use the older people to mentor they younger ones. But they still have a target on their back. It’s a circus. If your young get some experience and leave. Unfortunately for the older people it’s harder to do that as their pay would probably drop 40 to 50 percent so they ride the wave till their target been hit with a riff letter. But in the end if they find a compatible job they still have the drop in pay and back to 1 weeks vacation it sad culture.
People in India call centers only took the jobs for about a year before moving on to ibm call centers which paid them more money.
This is an old mentality company using old standards, basically it’s about shareholders and not the employees. The need to move into modern era of how companies are changing and attracting people and want to keep people a new build here or there isn’t doing anything
Cheap, impressionable minions > experienced, independent practitioners
As stated before; cheap labor across the street. If you’re making a good Sr salary; chances are you’ll get laid off so they can hire a college grad.
