Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Doubling-down on Cutting Corners

After the MAX debacle, one would think Boeing upper management would be laser-focused on rebuilding it's once stellar reputation for quality and SAFETY. South Carolina is an absolutely known producer of shoddy aircraft that have continuous QC issues. Yet, they go with the short-term decision to save cash and go with a facility with many deficiencies. Long-term, Boeing may be headed towards RTW states anyway, but if and when a 787 has a major problem or accident that isn't pilot error, you're looking at build quality. Farm boys can't seem to build a quality product, can they?

Ever since the MAX crashes, employees have heard that "QUALITY and SAFETY would never be sacrificed for PROFIT again". Obviously, Boeing didn't learn their lesson.

Glad I'm a short-timer. "Boeing Pride" is now Boeing shame. Going for ZERO Washington Employees.

@4dcg+17e5Ysbs its funny how all the WA employees (union) are here trashing SC when the conveniently ignore all the QA issues in WA. All the FOD that has been found in fuel tanks. Just because it has not taken down a plane yet does not make it any less serious. And since you ignore ot and don't "step in" like you claim, I can only assume you condone it.

And while QA should find it, who put it there? Those angelic perfect union employees left the c-ap in there.

There, I fixed it for you.

Ya, pretty funny to see all the pro sc people here and yet no one talks about the Q/A issues that plague that plant. Please move to sc faster so we can watch the next Boeing plane take more innocent lives. I got my popcorn and drink ready for the show Boeing! At least as a union employee I have the power to stop the production line if I feel something is wrong or illegal, I feel that most pro sc people are huge shareholders pushing for the move. Profit over Quality is our slogan!

Boeing supposedly let go of 170 executive level employees. Did anyone notice? Boeing simply has far too many desk jockeys.

The Boeing company’s problem started decades ago when they decided to fill management positions with outsiders having fancy degrees, rather than continuing the tradition of promoting from within. I was always told to focus on quality over quantity. It was a family atmosphere that had everyone earn their way through promotions. Now, you have snot nosed decision makers that have no idea about an airplane or the century of traditions employment was built upon.
This company is in a slow motion death spiral .

The Renton and Everett FOD issues pale in comparison to structural quality control issues. It's a lot easier to control someone leaving tools or rags behind in comparison to the problems in South Carolina.

Sorry, but Boeing upper management is saying loud and clear for all to hear that PROFIT comes first. That might be OK for your Ford or Chevy because you can have it towed back to the dealership and get it fixed.

When something comes apart at 35,000 feet, it gets a lot more complicated. Boeing's reputation, which is already in the toilet, is going to only get worse.

Have we already forgotten about Renton employees leaving rags, tools, and tool containers in the fuel cells. Oh, let's not forget about the other FOD issues with the tanker.
I see the decision to move the 787 as a no brainer.

True, unions can be a pain in your rear, and over-priced, but who made them like that? You, the upper management at Boeing in Seattle, and the Big 3 in Detroit with the UAW. I want the cars that I drive, and the jets that I fly to be safe. Boeing, you are moving a major production program to Right Wing South Carolina, where they already are flunking quality. Wake up low cost is not everything. You already have these issues. Do not deny the Jim Jones Koolaid of Washington ,DC. It can k–l people.
