Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Are you prepared ?

This place is a wreck and we all know it. It's a close to assurance that you will be laid off in any event once in the course of your life. Knowing this, what actions are you taking to plan for the day when you're notified that your position has been eliminated? Do you have emergency investment funds to cover a half year's costs? Are prepared to get another line of work tomorrow/next week? Do you have a side hustle? Or is hope your only strategy, feeling that your position is untouchable and too "valuable" ?

Teradata is a sales organization rolling with the old, for long time very good DWH concept. There is no software dev culture there, thus as a tech org it must die. This layoff now gives it additional year of a ride for ppl like C-suite to milk it one more year. Can't turn it around. SHAME on them

Sin of prise.
Three years ago, I remembrer Stephan Bobst laughing about Snowflake and Cloud’s relevance for Enterprise class workloads.
Today what a rude and painful awakening !
T-REX extinction, new species are settling the Tech Land .

Good luck to those affected. I guess by now most of us, file and ranks that didn't milk this place are updating CVs, working with recruiters and getting ready for a way out, the best in our own terms. Can't see any upside in staying for myself and actually now regret staying so long to go through this unnecessary stress.

Never underestimate the value of commitment, loyalty and knowledge that employees bring to the company. The world is a very big and accommodating place. And last but not the least - knowledge is power and those who dont value it will find themselves at a loss.
There's a lot of greener pastures outside of Teradata. So dont fret about it, You'll land on your feet - TRUST ME!

It’s not yet a complete wreck. Good strategy, bold leadership and miracles of God may still fix it.
TD market value is miserable but its growth potential is still terrific. In fact Snowflake and Palantir IPOs have fully validated Teradata relevance. Tecnology-wise, TD is far more stronger than those new entrants. Regarding complex and demanding analytical workloads, TD beats them miserabily. But who cares ? No matter who you are and what you can, what’s vital in the Tech market is how trendsetters (companies, j’aventure capitals, Hedge fonds, analysts, SI, newpapers...) perceive you.
The Reality is : market makers perceive TD as a jurassic technology.
TD could fix it but firing and praying may enough.
