Thread regarding Bose layoffs

There's no future at Bose

This is old news by now. Every single employee should already be hunting for a new job. This company is determined to outsource what can be outsourced and replace everybody else with younger and cheaper employees. Staying here just means waiting for inevitable to catch up to you. And I'd rather be gone before that happens.

And the team knew about the battery issue, very ironic that the executives didn't make the right decision on battery first time were not fired, but commoners laid off.

Bose is facing ferocity and quality of competition the likes of which it hasn't figured out how to beat consistently over the last decade. "Beat" meaning not in the glitzy social media and ad world with "likes", but with money in the pocket that keeps the very loyal employees of Bose employed and new product introductions flowing in a reliable, predictable, and fast-paced way.

This week, https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-10-05/apple-stops-selling-rival-earphones-speakers-ahead-of-launches. Multiple others every week and competition turning generational product cycles two to four times faster than Bose. Extremely competitive price, performance, and quality.

Time will tell if the thousands of Bose people who paid the price with loss of their job and yet another wave of new senior leadership can finally turn the corner and keep it turned.

So sad to witness this history in person. :(

Amen. I left end of 2019 and couldn’t be happier. I went to a better company, pay bump and better benefits. Those that are still there and aren’t looking are dumb. Plain and simple. They are going to outsource every division. Nobody is safe. Open your eyes. It couldn’t be more clear.

Bose decided to not develop another amplifier because it was too late.
The SA5 was release in 2015 and already near the end of life.
Consumer electronic products life is no more than 3 years.
Many customers already switched to products from other companies such as Sonos because
they are better quality with more features like multi-room.
Home speakers, ECO1 or ECO2, were not selling well, market share is small and keeps shrinking.
No more wifi speakers, no more TV speakers. It has never been successful anyway.

Bose management knew the facts and have been planning this for a few years
Home entertainment was called Horizon 1, put in maintenance mode and is gradually phased out, no more development, new more new products. Spent lots of money on cloud, but nobody knows how to make money or even offset the cost from very beginning, no strategy, no long-term plan.

Being is headphone company? Even that's questionable in long term.

I wonder the new SLeepBuds will do as they seemingly knew the battery was bad and they took a long time to resolve/remove the product from the market. THey will need to really work on rebuilding trust on many products (Delam QC30/SSW) (power button QC35) (Software-ECO1/ECO2) Abandoing ECO2, never adding music services. Yay- We have done a lot to fuc* over loyal customers. I wonder why sales are tanking?
It's kinda funny we tried to compete with Sonos, relaunched Bose Music and we can't even release a whole home amp to allow customers to use existing products.
Enjoy being a headphone company, home entertainemnt is cooked!

I saw the new sleep buds out and laughed because a year ago, the recall triggered the layoff that cut my job

Was there something that just happened? Did some cuts happen?
