I told someone the other day where I worked and they brought up the worst company in America ranking and said their uncle used to work there. I wanted to say something to defend myself and/or my company, but what was there to say honestly? We do what we do until we either get laid off, retire, or get another job. There is absolutely no pride left in anyone working at UP

I'm on a yard board. I just tell people I do yard work when they ask where I work. I'd rather they assume that I push a lawnmower all day than know that I work for this sorry company.
Yes, your company super s—s. Sounds like you miss the whole " oh i hear that's a good place to work" to boost your ego. And now it's gone the complete opposite direction. Get over yourself. If your biggest concern is what others have to say about your job, you have self esteem issues. Oh and btw, your company DOES S—. But by all means, please, stay there.
Yep, the response I usually get is, “Oh, I’m so sorry. I hear that place is like a cult, and they’re constantly laying off employees.”
Amen OP
Why embarrass yourself? Stop telling people. Problem fixed.
I hate that they make you shave your beard every year.
Do as I and others have and find another job if you are ashamed of who you work for. This is a free country and nobody is forcing you to stay. If you think things are going to change you are going to be disappointed with the result. UP will never go back to how the company was previously ran and we need to face this reality. The execs and board don’t care one bit about ratings, only profits and stock price.
Don’t forget your employee survey people. I’m sure it’ll be a waste of time with false results and no changes.
