Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

My shoe manager

They just laid off my shoe manager which she worked thru COVID. My impression is no more runners , no manager. Stock room is a disaster where no one organized it. Only to open new boxes and stack them. So anyone know where shoes is headed? May be my last Xmas here if commissions is going

to the person who post " only you care about shoe runners" here is my reply to you..

why don't you run up and down two flights of stairs for 5-7 hours a day, then deal with horrible customers then deal with not finding the shoes for that horrible customer and dealing with that feedback cause no one is straighten out the stock room.. why don't you run around the block for 5 hours straight and can only sit down when you have lunch.. if you get a lunch.., why don't you deal with all these weird little injuries from running up and down the steps in the stock room day in day out coming home wiped out exhausted with muscle cramps and no recovery time... why don't you step into women shoes with no runner... why don't you? why cause you sit in your chair watching everyone drive them self's into the ground at your lackluster leadership skills to keep a runner in place.. its all about the numbers isn't it?

We are an A+ non union store. We still have runners.

Stop with asking where shoes is headed. It's open sell, full stop. It has been "heading" this way for years now and there's few left who haven't converted yet. And no one, I repeat no one, except for you, cares about shoe runners.

In my store we still have to get the shoe for the customer. We are still using the shoe locater and doing the shoe audit. Also setting the shoes set sale every 2 times a week. I'm just wondering is commission going away for good. We hardly having any customers shopping in our store.

Sears used open sell in many stores. I was the Footwear Lead in 2 Sears stores. Very profitable but labor intensive, particularly with recovery.

Open sell. Think DSW and Broadway. Everything out the floor, you don't need people to go get your show for you. No commission. Self service.

Our store went all self serve a year ago. I am sure that’s the way it’s all headed.
