They no longer share the news of changes when they lay people off - you end up learning who has gone when your email bounces back or in whispers at the water cooler. Good luck to the folks that remain - it will mean more work and more pressure to deliver results for a leadership team that knows nothing and cares even less.

Look outside Staples - there are so many opportunities for talented people to perform for companies that value them.

Haven’t heard anything new this week. Skeptical of anything happening next week unless others have heard otherwise.

I am shocked that someone in Staples management would suggest filing for disability. to avoid being terminated That is highly unethical but then again we are taking about Staples Management. Anyone that is about to lose their job, take your medicine and hopefully some severance, and move on to a better WorkLife. Staples is on its death bed.

There are way too many people already taking advantage of the company with bogus claims. Another reason the company continues to struggle. If you are being let go there is a reason, move on, and find something else. Don't the system. Karma is a thing if a manager told you that, they should be fired immediately.

Still hiring furniture, but heard they were cutting some of the longer tenured reps to shed salary.

Heard there were too many reps taking advantage of the lenient policies provided by management - ie. travel expenses, per diem. Now that this is out in the open with SP, expect for more cuts. Employees shouldn't be provided company car and the ability to expense a rental car / gas. Doesn't make sense. If they sort these menial dilemmas out, then maybe they wouldn't have to cut as many positions.

Any insights for impact on other teams - SDS, merchandising, marketing, etc?

Boom. The sound of all the wealth of experience being traded for finbin numbers to please accounting and make the stock look good
Too bad the incoming class has little work ethic, innovation or creativity. Anyone with those sorts of skills should go work for real company like google or amazon or better yet start your own
