Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Optum

Everyone knows by now, especially coming to this site, that an Optum layoff is always in the future. Why put yourself through this misery every few months of stress? Don’t you AND your family deserve better? Stop blaming others and take control of your livelihood. Stop blaming your direct managers because they are just doing what they are told. Everyone is a pawn of the company pleasing its stockholders no matter effects of the lives and careers it ruined. If you’re going to stay, do your job and give yourself the best odds of not getting chosen to be laid-off. How long do you think a severance and unemployment will last? COBRA is very expensive and the ACA is on the outs.

Folks go there if theyre desperate (very sad), out of necessity– not by choice.

All I know is that a lot of the people cut from United the last two years are desperate to get back in. A lot of people were generally happy here. Not saying it is great or even a top company to work for but it is tough out there. I think there are plenty of things they could do to help this company really be top tier but its too large now and everything at this point is cost reductions and anything beneficial for employees will add costs. The political environment is the boogeyman that keeps getting closer and closer. Liberals are coming for UHG and every other company.

If you "love" a USA corporate job, then that's a form of Stockholm Syndrome and/or mental illness. The only folks who "love" their jobs are the owners-partners not employee simps.

This is a terrible post and in my opinion whomever wrote it is a negative, bitter person. Not everyone who has been affected by reorganization believes this way. Rude. Some of us really loved our positions at Optum and we also loved Optum. It’s unfortunate you weren’t cut versus those that have positive, upbeat attitudes.
