Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Layoff updates: If you've been with TD for over 7 years or are 55+years old ...

Its bye-bye? I need someone to confirm this rumour that I'm hearing from friends and colleagues? HR and my boss dont say anything. Some people who have taken retirement but I know people in the Nordics for example who are late 50's still staying on.
Dont know who to trust.....

They also get around WARN by laying off 499 staff at a clip. (A company of Teradata's size doesn not have to issue a WARN statement if they layoff less than 500 people.) They have been playing this game for the last 4 years.

The way they get around WARN act is they keep people in payroll for the 60 days. But not come to office. This playbook was followed last year during the lay off

The federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act and various state equivalents known as “mini-WARN” Acts require that covered employers give up to 60 to 90 days’ advance written notice before implementing a “mass layoff.”

Its a voluntary early retirement not a layoff.

In the US at least laying off everyone above a certain age would be completely illegal.

And wholesale getting rid of everyone who has been with the company for over some amount of time sounds like a pretty id–tic policy if you want to keep your expert knowledge of internal things
