Anyone see a correlation between the level of layoffs and the lack of strategy or leadership?
Compare BP dinosaurs with Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos who have grown from nothing to many multiples of BP.

Sorry OP. Comparing bp with two of the most successful companies out there and in completely different fields is a lesson in futility. If you want to compare with COP or XOM or CVX go right ahead, but our entire industry is down not just bp.
It’s the lifecycle of a company/industry. Oil and gas was once huge and invincible, not because of great leadership, but because customers wanted the product. It has happened in the retail industry, telecoms, personal computers, etc. The same will eventually happen with Amazon and whatever it is that Musk does.
Lol. You want to be the leader in O&G? BP is slowly going the way of the dinosaur. Making large investments in technologies that aren't making them any money to support the large headcount. It's inevitable that layoffs are happening, and will continue to happen.
