Bogus PIP? I for one think those low performers needed to go. Also. The PIP program is not a layoff. 2 different words, 2 different things.
God.. I thought we hired the best and brightest. Obviously seeing the replies on this site, looks like there are many bottom of the barrel employees still around...
Fact is... many mangers do not believe in it too.. but.. hey! Saying the wrong things, may get you booted.. so I’ll continue saying the right things and displaying desired behaviours! Ain’t getting any dirt on me!

@2rvq - I very much doubt that. I remember 2 EMRE employee forums in 2 weeks, where both senior managers (one of whom is the President of EMRE) stated, quite clearly: "We have no plans for staff reductions or layoffs". The second one (given by the President) occurred only 2 days before the Bloomberg article was published, announcing the close to 2000 headcount reduction from the bogus NSI/PIP program. They are lying through their teeth.
What's your point? It is entirely possible they weren't planning layoffs at that point. They could have waited until coming to grips with the reality that recovery was going to take awhile to start planning for it.
