There have been murmurs of this, but now it's been confirmed. Another round is coming after the involuntary wave. And guessing it doesn't stop at that, we know for at least the next 2-3 years it's going to be an absolute nightmare situation at this company, likened to a bloodbath. You thought culture is bad right now? Just wait to see the kind of back stabbing cutthroat behavior that commences in the coming years. This place is going to h3ll in a hand basket.

No. Worse. The layoffs are going to deeper next time also.
Will the next layoff provide the same severance?
Prediction after the December cut (upstream side): same tired faces in charge, same tired processes. Zero pushback from any lower/middle management to any upper management requests as always (the fear factor) Lip service to D&I but as always the loudest voice will win. And when COVID really starts to hit, the old “employees should use their best judgement” mantra when management hints that we should all come back to work (in our 1x office spaces).
The Involuntary layoffs are already happening. Buddy of mine who got laid off under age 55 with less than 15 years of service got offered him the Lump-Doedidn't think he could take the lump under 55 but they offered it to him.
I would be most worried if I was in EMRE, Dallas, or global Projects. That's likely the next area that further cuts will run deep.
Why do we need people to do projects when there are no projects?
Can OP share more details on how this rumor was recently "confirmed"?
Not disputing need for further cuts beyond announced 14K by YE 22. 14K is sandbagging the market as we are already beyond 7K. Darren can later be hero when stating he has accelerated efficiency gains ("winning"), and is now ready to ratchet up efficiency target to truly become the lowest cost operator.
Key question is timing. Logic suggests only after next round of assessments. So, perhaps "rinse and repeat" with a YE 21 4Q "voluntary and involuntary" program. Voluntary program might finally be competitive then, include NREs, and pitched as our last best voluntary program. Still a large amount of RE/NRE folks to sweep out, and doubtful many will be jumping with current 4 months offer.
It's not confirmed. Just @OP being a troll.
Saw skeletor retired recently. Was he on pip or take the voluntary retirement?
It is going to be a nightmare? I beg to argue the nightmare existed in the past.
Past 15 years at ExxonMobil have been a nightmare where the entire organizational and employee culture rotted like never before.
All of these posts won’t mean a thing if there is another national lockdown. Believe me I hope I’m wrong. The problem is these infectious #s are more than March-May. With the political environment already scorched earth this could be 1929 Black Tuesday!
Confirmed by imagination.
