Thread regarding Cox Automotive layoffs

Are we expecting new furloughs and layoffs now with new covid lock downs expected?

Hearing rumors there will be more furloughs and layoffs soon with covid upticks and talks of big lock downs again? Will this ever end? Anyone have thoughts on this?

It doesn't really matter what cox enterprises do, or cox communications... The automotive industry iyear end totals are going to be depressing. It's kinda good they're looking for other industries to invest in. Home communications and clean energy is probably better long term.

sounds about right. the other ones weren't from covid either, covid was just the convenient thing to blame it on. eliminate thousands of people, destroy peoples lives..... spend 100 million investing another company so they can be part indoor farming and food production. sounds like a wannabe amazon. maybe cox will swallowed up by amazon after all.

I would expect layoffs, and not only due to covid19 - "has secured more than $100 million in debt and new equity capital to support robust expansion plans. The Series E round of funding was led by Cox Enterprises, which now owns a majority stake in the company" . Seem to have a pattern of making cuts whenever they invest/ buy other companies and open new campuses.

Not true about amazing sales. Peak sales months were basically delayed this year due to covid, leading to "amazing" recent months. But all you need to do is look at YTD sales to see the industries are behind where they should be overall. Only the likes of Bezos has seen impressive yearly growth.

Location of lockdowns made no difference last time. And incase you didn’t notice purchases like cars and homes are through the roof record high. Didn’t stop Cox from eliminating and screwing over 1,000s of people last time.

I think it would depend on which states go through lockdowns and whether or not it impacts Manheim's operations. I feel like big purchases are going to go down this season... I feel like people are just going to purchases smaller goodies for the home and kids instead of homes and cars.

Given recent history it would be smart to be prepared at all times.
