Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Early retirement

Does anyone know if Citi offers early retirement (I am 56) as an option to a layoff?

There are private insurance comparisons you should do. There are some that are 100-300$ cheaper for the same coverage or better.

Actually you can only get Cobra for 18 months usually. You can get retiree insurance from Citi if you've been there long enough. Last I priced it, it was 20K a year for spouse and myself. Not really an option.

I was JD'd last year. Cobra runs about $650 for an individual and $1000 if you want to continue with Citi's plan until you are 65. We will have to wait and see when the new administration comes in. They want to expand medicare eligibility to start at 60 instead of 65 due to Covid. Which would be a blessing to many folks.

Interesting about able to continue health care with Citi until 65 if retire. I know you can do Cobra, but understand that is about $1000/mo.
Is that what you are thinking?

No reason for wanting early retirement except health insurance, I don't have the pension option but I understand you can continue on the healthcare plan until age 65 if you retire from Citi., it might cost some extra, but still a whole lot cheaper than private insurance especially over 9 years!

They have plenty of money, the bonuses they hand out to the “higher ups” is crazy
But do agree with the stress!

Probably so they don’t die from a stress related disease besides, Citi gave away 1.3 billion $ there is no money for severance.

Curious why you would want early retirement over getting laid off with a severance package?
