The incoming administration's stance on for-profit secondary education, primarily closing the 90/10 rule; and for-profit schools having to submit their worthiness to the administration before receiving federal tuition dollars are a concern. This could directly and deeply impact my job and many others.
The majority of us work hard to ensure a quality education for our students. But these proposed changes by the new administration could leave me and many others without a job.
It was touched upon in the Q4 2020 Earnings Call, but I was discouraged when it did not appear we as an organization have a concrete plan for assuaging this situation and instead hoping for different possibilities. I am sure we are working on it, we'll see.
I don't think Betsy DeVos would care. Still, I feel for these students. I feel terrible for the ones I saw at UTI who couldn't qualify for a grant, so had to take out the federal loans and private loan, sometimes that wasn't even enough. Imagine being 24, having no experience working in the auto industry, you just got a paper UTI printed out that says "certificate" and $40,000 in debt.
Big deal. It has nothing to do with UTI
