Go ahead, I dare you. I see people complaining about how bad Staples is, how it’s going to go down in smokes. If you hate the company so much why don’t you grow a pair and leave. No one is forcing you to stay. The company doesn’t need you. There is a file folder of dozens of applicants willing to take your place and probably more with millions of Americans unemployed. Good riddance and don’t let the door hit you in the a–.

Having worked in retail for 15 yrs I can say by the time I left my DM and RVP had most of the management in our district beaten down to the point that most of us felt like we couldn't get another job easily. And with the hours we were being forced to work it was difficult to truly seek a new job. Some of us were blessed to be let go. I luckily have found a better job and while I am disappointed in the way it ended I don't wish any ill towards Staples. Helped pay my mortgage. I still shop at my old store. The "if you don't like it then leave" mentality is not so cut and dry. People stay there miserable because they need the money and Staples knows that. So you stay miserable trying to do the impossible c-ap they ask of you and they know most won't leave because they need the money.
Hey OP... I think you are sitting in a position that you don't realize yet that could be gone in an instant. I think it's giving you a false sense of how things are. Most of these people on here dedicated themselves to their jobs, sometimes decades worth and then were shown the door through no fault of their own.
I absolutely loved my role in the company. I liked most of my bosses, and the people I worked with. I busted my @ss working there over the past decade and it honestly didn't matter. To the C-suite and people in charge I was just a number....unfortunately that number had a dollar sign in front of it. When furloughs happened I knew that the company was doing that because they had to. Just like I understood when all of us didn't make it back from furlough. If we don't have customers buying anything, well then they can't pay us.
I do not agree with all the decisions that SP has made. I think some of them were window dressing to look innovative, or to make the profits/costs look better so that they could try to sell the company. But then it didn't work. Unfortunately with the whole pandemic I think this is the end of the company. A private equity firm is not in the business of building a company or a brand. They are in the business of making money (usually quickly) for their partners. If the company profits do not start doing better soon, the people in charge will start looking at the possibility of getting out with as much profit as they can, and as soon as they can!
There is a sense that transitions could be happening. Suddenly managers wanting to know about your business when they have been lacking interest for years. I get a gut chuckle watching those inflate their key business matrix. The eyes are watching. Stay truthful.
Just be ready. Don't wait until last minute t start looking. They are going to drop a hammer again within a couple weeks. They always do around holiday season. Most of us should be ok but some of us will not survive it.
The thing that impresses me about staples is that it’s like a plane that has been flying for 10 years and got caught in bad weather and has no visibility. Yet, it still manages to have gas in the tank. It will eventually is going to slam into that mountain it can’t see. The only remains from the wreckage will be SDs woke topics and “that was easy”. I’m still impressed though
SD is overdue to be shown the door. What has he accomplished? He dropped a fortunate on 5 new brands that went absolutely nowhere. He ddn't come up with a single plan to maximize the opportunities COVID presents for san-jan. Go ahead SD, I double dare you to take the money and run. You certainly haven't added value to Staples.
What planet are you on??
I like how someone posted "What are you, 10?" and then proceeds to call the OP names... Classy, and ironic.
OP is off base. The toxic posts in here are from all the obsolete non-value add folks that were deleted. Grass is greener - but they still find time to relive their glory days in here. Good stuff.
Ok Dad! I hope you feel better. Now it time to go back in your office and try to look busy! Good grief!
I hope there are more than a dozen applicants as there are many more positions that need to be filled. Unfortunately Staples is not seen as a leading edge value driven company and recruiting is very challenging. Too much divide and conquer on this thread. Whoever started the thread- I can guarantee if a better offer were presented there are few that would stay. Been fighting the good fight to make Staples Great Again- unfortunately the toxic culture of the company permeates through all levels. I can also assure you the senior levels are concerned about these things- their own jobs, what’s in it for them, and the bottom line of the company. Anything in between is inconsequential and not valued on the level it should be and that is why the posts come though this website with such passion and venom. It’s very sad.
Who started this thread? What a dork. "I dare you". What are you 10? Fn nerd.
What a stupid post. Do you think people stay because they like this nasty company? Just watch, the door will hit you in the A$$ and you will be crying the blues.
They don’t need to quit. They all be shown the door sooner or later.
