Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Teradata - rated #1 for coming out

I have deals to close by end of year and no new products to help me and no meaningful roadmap!

But we use our company all hands to hear about the CSO's boyfriend, how he hired his former employer (very nice), that our new CIO is LGBT, and HR telling us we're all sickly biased.

Teradata ELT are very lost.

This is the reality :

  • Within 15-16 months of their hire, the top sales leadership quits ( CRO and EVP of AMS and EMEA)
  • Within a month of his hiring the CSO outsources his own job to a consulting firm
  • "Visionary" CEO praised for his "strategy" kicked out for lack of "execution"
  • CFO presents data on a pp slide with no roadmap for the next 24 -36 months shown ever to gain confidence
  • Marketing acts as if this is a consumer product staples company ("dig deep", "Cloud First", slogans)
  • We are an analytics company whose data internally run on spreadsheets and badly constructed pricing and financial models

"The wonder that is TD" ! " It only happens here"

Just a few weeks in and the CSO has proven that he is not capabe of doing his own job. Get rid of him before he causes damage. He is going to fail big time

Chop the dead wood is a must to turn it around. And yeah, times changed, LGBT is sth to get used, these are not 90s even if your SQL editor looks like that

Think Big was not a good fit for Teradata only because Teradata is not a tech but marketing sales organization. Plenty of old school white male folks in mid 50s with 0 track of time and changes. Sorry but recognise that this is not what brought success to other tech companies recently. Be fair and own it.

I was surprised (not) that HR didn't talk about 2021 benefits.... it's November and time to select them! What a joke.

Teradata HR is the worst. They haven't done one thing right for the employees in last five years. The top management watched in silence including the board while VL went on his stupid experiments. I wish they had fired him five years ago and hired a decent CEO from the valley we would have been in better shape. In Teradata most of the top management is clueless about Cloud and the latest technologies and the impact of open source on warehouse. All these guys at the top just collect paychecks and bonuses and survive. If someone were to start rating them you will find out that they are worthless. The company is run like a mom/pop store. If you know someone in management you can get a job in TDC. Experienced engineers were let go to make room for low cost resources. The end result is TDC is on it's way to losing most of the top customers. Making the balance sheet look good by firing employees is a skillset that MBA schools can learn from TDC management. The question is how long can this strategy last? They have p-ss-d off good money buying worthless companies for millions of $$ ... Think Big was one example and I can give more..

Wtf was that all hands. All jokers talking BS. CEO to CSO. Who hired them? No sense of pain, no sense of direction.... waste of time.

CEO Hires CSO for setting the strategy. That CSO goes and hires another company to do his job. so many guys making big bucks for passing the buck around :))

Yeah, his old employer is cosidered to be a top 3 management consulting firm alomng with the firm that was hired to craft Teradata's transformation strategy five years ago and we all know how well that turned out. These firms are incapable of providing actionable advice about how to bolster Teradata's revenue, which is the main issue. A number of years ago his old firm was hired by a client of mine. They interviewed me and, for the most part, their recommendations were the suggestions I gave them. Unfortunately for them, most of the good talent have been laid-off or offloaded, so they will have to rely on themselves. Good luck.

That are very lost except when it comes to cashing in as Teradata continues the swirl down the drain!
Why would anyone stay there now unless they can’t find another job? Since they recently got rid of their most senior and experienced resources what is left, not so talented folks?
