Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

I work in the XTO Central business unit and we received an email from the area Sr. Foreman today that goes as follows:

OKC Meeting
Morning,
Myself and all Foreman will be heading to OKC today for a Safety Stand Down meeting in the morning. Any work authorization needed for tomorrow’s activities will need to be obtained prior to 9:00 Am and if any deviations are needed, the job will need to be postponed. All Foreman will be unable to answer any calls Wednesday from 9:15 to around 3 pm.

Does anyone have any incite on what this meeting is actually about? We have never had all the Foreman leave the area to go to a safety meeting at the same time.

Safety stand downs are fairly typical.. I'm also surprised you have never heard of it..

Never seen a stop work or safety meeting to this degree. Especially with the cost it brings. Also remember new Ops mgr. plus safety always looking for the spotlight

It's a meeting with the Oklahoma City Thunders to evaluate how safe would be to bring Kevin Durant and James Harden back together to the team.

Don't see a problem with this. Safety stand downs are pretty common within the BUs. Surprised you've never heard of one or seen something like this happening.
