Why EIS?.... Because they wanted Paragon. The rest of EIS, was just part of the deal at no extra cost. And Yes we bring in the Maintenance Dollars, but it didn't stop them from laying off 5 coders and our Tech writer! They just tossed out over 300 years of experience in our product. All under guise of 'We are looking to the future support of the product' Well the 3 coders left are going to be hard pressed to 'train' our replacements.
Not unique. Every public company in the last 25 years sees layoffs as a magic button to increase stock price.
Black sees layoffs as a magic button to increase our stock price and it has worked for now. At some point reducing costs will do nothing to increase the ROI for customers when the software does not work as advertised or worse suffers from unacceptable delays implementing new functionality and meeting regulatory requirements. The stock will be back in the mid single digits by the third quarter 2021.
I'm not sure why Allscripts bought EIS/the Classics. There was zero effort made to understand what we bought or how to integrate those products into our larger portfolio of offerings. It was evidently to expand market share with the idea of selling into a purchased customer base. That has failed to occur. Additionally, some of the EIS offerings were solid products that could have used some additional development funding for updating and easily sold into the combined customer base. It's been a series of gaffes and mismanagement. Top of Mind? Hardly, a thing.
- Buy EIS
- ?????
- Profit!
How many people were impacted? I am sorry this happened. The "leadership" here is abysmal. They keep laying off the people to make up for their failed leadership. This place is the very definition of "crony". It was built for a few guys to make a lot of money and everybody else just has to suffer.
No new sales for 8 quarters?! This is not survivable.
They fired a PREGNANT WOMAN?! I know for a fact of someone who works in USA for this company, who was specifically not fired a few years ago because she WAS pregnant... Allsh!t$ just truly doesn't care anymore, do they? So sad.
It's really hard to decide if an UP arrow or DOWN arrow is appropriate for these posts. On one hand, wishing teams the best deserves an up arrow. But posts that include the savagery of these cuts, where no one from C-Suite is also cut, are really hard to navigate when other things are included.
I can't believe they layed off a woman who was expecting. Hopefully Canadian laws can be used to slap the company across the face.
Praying to God for everyone impacted.
Most of “classics” projects are these zombie products acquired via EIS acquisition. There is no future growth but these teams do bring in a lot of maintenance dollars.
Define “classics” please. I am not familiar with what that refers to. And yes, it was clear in today’s call, that cuts will continue to be made. Why am I not surprised?
They should be laying off new business sales people
Since we are headed for 8 straight quarters of no new sales
The superstar has it covered
My team had 3 let go including me. No one off shore. Just US based. Go figure.
There were 8 layoffs in Vancouver office mostly QA and a pregnant woman. That is a human rights abuse here in Canada. If you live in Vancouver, dust of your resume now...
Paragon and Sunrise Support were impacted.
dbMotion also impacted. Count me as one of them. Sad day all around especially after the salary announcement a few weeks ago.
Classics was hit hard. STAR cut multiple developers - tech and app. Effective different times
Paragon was hit. I was one of them. I am not sure how deep the cuts will be. Good luck to the rest of you. Upper Leadership has no clue what they are doing. Those are not my words, that came from Upper Leadership.
There were layoffs today/this morning after town hall. Do not know who all was impacted, or how large of an impact it is.
More specifics please. I heard Classics is asking developers to volunteer. I hope they do so in our department too. Clearly they indicated more cuts are coming.
