Yes- tanker IS essential. Yes- seniority is in play (IAM, at least).

They move level III and four and five engineers to program they plan to cancel like the 767. Then lay them off when the program is canceled. They are supposed to be able to bump an R3 engineer But they get around it by claiming that there are no R3 level 3 or 4 or 5 engineers to bump. And they only have positions for level one and two engineers on new programs. Boeing wrote the book on unethical corporate behavior.

They prefer older workers because they have the highest salaries while being the most lazy ever. Spent 10 years at Boeing and saw how these entitled Level 3, 4 and 5 engineers wanted to pick and choose what to do while claiming young engineers had to do the heavy work because that’s how they did it 20 years. These lazy f—ers also happen to be the ones that SPEEA put in R2 and R1 positions due to seniority.

Its not how long you been there or how great you do you your job and show up everyday.
Its about how much you are liked by management. The only way to do that is by s—ing a–. Start now.

They are supposed to go by seniority based on the contract, however they find ways to get around it because it’s obvious to most people they prefer laying off older workers. That was one of the motivations to go to South Carolina was so that they can freely practice age discrimination without being sued by the union. The companies demonstrated over and over they have a few if any ethics
