Agency 10% pay cut reinstatement

According to the return to 10, which is being renamed due to not being able to return to 10... LOL!

The agency employees will only get 5% of the 10% they lost this year. Starting 11/30. Then the other 5% some time in 2021. This is disgusting! They can take the 10% the next day they notify you, but we have beg and barrow till next year????? F— FORD

Some agency do not have a degree, which limits their options.
Some agency do not want to deal with Ford BS, they come in do what they are told p, collect paycheck and go home.
Some agency would have to take a pay cut to become a Ford employee.
Some agency like the freedom to chose when and where they will work. 6 months here, 6 months there.

Not everyone wants to be a Ford employee. Yes, Ford is an ideal place to work if you are a free loader and unmotivated- but not everyone meets that criteria.

Why are there so many posts about agency people on this board? Why does anyone agency not try to convert ASAP or leave?

I was a contractor at Ford when the first cut hit me and I then just worked that % less. And even then I did more work then my card playing FTE’s.

The long term contractors at Ford will tell you that in the past 15 years Ford has cut the rates multiple times. I have had 3 rate cuts. The first 20%, the next 15%, the next 10%.
So let’s say I was earning 65 per hour
The first cut reduced the rate to 52 per hour
The second cut reduced the rate to 44 per hour
The third cut reduced the rate to 39 per hour

Freshers get 35 per hour so all the years of working hard has earned 4 dollars per hour more than a fresher.

Simple math shows you that contracting at Ford is a losing proposition. You have to go contract elsewhere to get your rate back up. Those with family situations that tie them to michigan get stuck.

Now let’s compare the contractor situation to the Ford employee situation. A fresher who was hired at Ford 20 years ago at 35 per hour and every year got the Ford standard increase of 3% is now make 60 per hour for just showing up.

The rift between employees and contractors is often the sense of entitlement the employees feel. They loaf and fritter away Ford’s resources and their salary is guaranteed to increase yearly. In addition they claim the contractors work products as their own.

I have been working 45+ years (5 years in Air Force) and in the time, including my 2 contract positions, I've been laid off and relocated my family out of state for a job. There were some hard times but I always seemed to manage to keep things going. I have treaded water so far never sank!
Friend you seem to be a bit on edge but sometimes you have to put on your big boy (girl) pants and make the right decisions regarding the future of your career.
And really, you should get to know someone a bit better before you start calling them names.
Best of luck to you!

The person mentioning having 2 contracts jobs and then securing one at Ford in one of those posts, you are a stupid mo–n. My hope is you lose your job within the next two weeks.

And then let's see how you swim and drown trying to find a new job in the middle of the pandemic.

Ford will soon cut salaried employees, and you will be the first to be laid off, no doubt.
Nope, they won't cut your salary. They will say go f... yourself.

I am sure Ford attitude towards contractors has to do with their status in the US. Abusive, Ford should have let go some of them instead of cutting their rates and making them all unhappy and not touching the salaried employees. Fairness??

First, agency people at Ford are lucky; talk to some of your compatriots at FCA or the tier one supplied who were laid off and most are still not back.

Second, exactly how much causal personal overtime have you work recently? I’ve worked enough in 25 years of IT support to add another 6 months to my pension, if it was ever paid - but it was not nor will it ever be paid.

Third, we all have choices in life. If you do not like agency work, keep applying for full time work hired in as an employee at a company (either Ford or somewhere else) until you get one. you don’t have to be agency forever if you don’t want to be. For some it is a choice; knew one guy who was agency for 17 years at Credit IT. Was asked twice to be converted to Ford employee and turned it down twice ( was mainframe specialist, so he was paid more as agency than would have been as Ford). Should we feel sorry for him?

I worked for two contract companies in the early 90's (C.D. and Bt) for Ford Motor Company.
You can always leave, I did. I kept moving from company to company until I eventually secured a job with Ford directly in the 2000's. Don't complain about your situation unless you are willing do something about it. If you don't, then you deserve everything you get!

Are you sure it’s not your contract house who is picketing the 5%?

Curious what areas of Ford are using contractors? Is this IT or Product Development? Thanks.

Completely agree! Ford best quarter in years, all big managers smiling and patting each other's shoulders, employees getting their raises and contractors still are making less than before Covid-19.

BTW, some contractors are leaving the company. and it seems the 5% is being dispensed to stop it. I believe it. Months ago, I was told Ford was considering to reinstate the 10% back, and that I'd know at the beginning of October. Now, half the amount and over one month later than expected, I think Ford is taking advantage of contractors to reduce the costs. Remember Ford, you reap what you sow.

Thanks
