CHANGING WB MASON MODEL

WB has long been a grind, but you were compensated for it. You worked your tail off, but something came about of it. Today it's a different company. They're embracing technology more than they ever have. Trying o figure out SEO, and targeted email blasts (which have been going on for a while, but they have much more data now). They will stop paying on Office supplies; theoretically they have already by raising costs and artificially taking back GP $'s. You'll have to sell office furniture (not really happening right now), print, promo, and janitorial. If you're still there you have to make that shift. The most valuable asset of any company is Human Capital and WB does not value it. They place people in rolls to just put an a– in a seat that will follow orders. That's a liability. Imagine they put talented people in rolls and empowered them in making decisions.... they'd be a $5 bil company. Distribution wouldn't be a sh– show. HR would be a real dept. Managers would be compensated fairly. Sales reps wouldn't think THEY'RE a customer of WB. A lot of people depend on the company to provide for them and their families. I hope for the best.

well, 2 members of the 'Top 25' sales people quit this week. When the big writers are on their way out the door you know days are numbered. Maybe they'll call some of us back to take their place, fat chance, those accounts have already been passed on to the Fla call center minimum wage drones..... Leo's brother has turned WB into the worst version of the Staples model we, the WB salesforce crushed in the past 20 years. I wonder if this total failure will be taught at the Leo Meehan School of Business?

It’s too bad . For over 11 years, I was proud to wear the Mason colors . Then came March and 2000 people tossed to the wind, with promises of “ of course we will bring you back”. Reminds me of “ of course your order will be there tomorrow “ and “ of course Santa is real”

Speak to current employees: most can’t stand the company anymore but they know WB would fight unemployment if they quit.

The “ management by intimidation” was , and clearly is, doomed to fail.
