I've been thinking about this lately and I think the answer is no. The mismanagement of Optum in the past years has been staggering. Things are so bad by now that even if the entire ELT was through some miracle replaced with competent people who know what they're doing there would be no way for them to right everything that is now wrong.

The delusional optimism and hoping and praying is a waste. The US has 2 goals. Get money, get more money.. That's it. Stockholm syndromed wage slaves is the cope. They 'hire' people who are debt ridden, got families, mortgages, student loans, etc...b/c they OWN your rear. That's reality. Wake up and smell that Coffee time
I don't think so. If anything there is even more red tape, more BS etc. Just wait until your common review lol. More fun to justify your pittance. All in the name of profit and bigger bonuses for top leadership who really could not care any less about employees.
To get ahead in the us corporate dump empire, you must be a psychopath. They hire other psychopaths to be the bosses, it is all top down facism.
it was horrible. You got a bunch corporate simps that think they "love" the corporate place and want to exceed bc most have mommy/daddy issues. It 's sad really. Most are so brain washed and think working hard is their ticket to success. Good luck! sounds like more us propaganda
yup, cant wait to say bye, miss the old days. what has happened in the past several years? cant wait to say bye soon. peace out optum good luck!
It was finished. the people were rotten.
Unfortunately, no. The wake of destruction being left behind will take so many years to fix.
Sigh. Optum used to be a great place to work. Not anymore. 😪😪😪
The treatment you are discussing is the 1950 management style. It is easier to be mean than to be nice. It take talent to handle pressure and discuss situations with lower level personnel. Far easier just to be A hole and push people around. Whip people to get them to work when other managers know how to get folks to work better. And when they prove the manager is an embarrassment, then you get kicked out since the old boys club has to be maintained. Like I said, a whip is easier to use. The shareholders know that too. And they make sure they hire managers that can be like that without any care if you cannot find a job during pandemic. To be a good senior management leader you have to know to eliminate people without feeling bad. You have to be insensitive. And the most insensitive people get hired to the top. They are paid the big bucks to be ruthless, insensitive, and mean....but most of all, have a great PR department to make them act as though the company loves them.
It is difficult to get used to working in a respectful environment after 12 years at Optum. My new co-workers don't yell over me in meetings and my new leaders are not making up incidents to prove I failed. Leave and don't look back.
I will never return to Optum. The last 4 years I was there (rif’d in June), it was absolutely a reign of terror. It only took a few short weeks to find a better role, at a better company, for better $$$. And OH MY GAWD! THEY RESPECT ME! 😱
