Thread regarding Bose layoffs

If you had a 1 on 1

If LS approached you and sincerely asked for your opinion on what was a detriment within the company what would you say? If you were to give your input on how to improve the company within any or all areas what would be your reply? I am curious to see the answers.

@Missing the Mark– There were plenty of products that were innovative, not reactive, even after Dr. Bose was no longer running things. Just off the top of my head – SoundLink Mini, Cinemate, L1, Solo TV Speaker, Soundwear Companion, Frames. The problem with Dr. Bose's absence is that there was no one any longer demanding that we SELL lots of those products; instead, we asked Sales their opinion; they said "hmm, I don't know about that one" and then we performed down to their sandbagged numbers.

When Dr Bose was around he basically ran the company like a hobby and spent his time inventing new things and then leaving those inventions to others to sell. it was a TERRIBLE business plan but for some reason it worked with the good Doctor. Since he passed, the Bose business model has been reactionary instead of leadership (IE - Lets see what is selling and see if we can make a knock off but make it better). If Bose is to survive they need to team up with a well known star and market towards the younger crowd. When "Beats" by Dr. Dre was taking over the market, what did Bose do? They teamed up with Rory McIIroy, nothing against Rory but wearing a "Rory McIIroy signature edition headset" painted Golf Course green just doesn't have the same effect as "Beats".

Bose is now a decades-long case study for https://www.investopedia.com/terms/p/peter-principle.asp

Best intentions (presumably) at the core of promotions leading to incompetent performance, with tenure and connections being their lifeline, and few corrective actions.

Done in what became a management echo chamber, decisions for a few that have done intense harm to the thousands of faithful employees who have lost their jobs. Ultimately, bringing the question to the companies viability and culture.

  1. fix our damn BT issues. Gets us too many bad reviews everywhere.
  2. don't decrease R&D spending.
  3. Stop paying consultants millions of $s.

Doesn't matter, this will never happen. It's only what the executives care about.
