Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Hiring spree!

Is it me, or does Optum seem like they are on a hiring spree. I’m looking on linked at Optum employees and most are from external companies and have only been in there role for 4months to a year. Why are they hiring but firing at the same time? Are there a lot of new teams being created!? Make it make sense.

Working there is like buying a sht box and expecting to perform like a brand new luxury auto. Who in their right mind would even consider going there UNLESS they have very few if any options?!? it was professional ghetto

I think they’re hiring now because it won’t affect them when they chop them in December, unemployment insurance.

How's all that "hard" work doing? They really really care about you.

That was the US. Hire lackeys who "believe" in the corporation and its' propaganda, then pay em cheaply, and give em pizza. Go corporate america

Being laid off, leaving, and not applying for UHC is the best thing you can do. This company tries everything to gain money or save on expenses using unethical practices. This company has been sued many times yet they still try. Do not even think this company will change their views on employees, patients, and providers.

We lay off the expensive resources with high pay and benefits.

We then replace with similar skills at a lower pay and less benefits.

Common corporate practice anywhere you work. It is sad and unfortunate, but is the reality.

I'm within Optuminsight and we are funded by the line of business we support externally for health care providers and plan membership. We got a notification today that our Medicare & Retirement business needs to reduce by 5 Million resulting in layoffs. Employees funded by Group Retiree and Community & State are not affected thus we're still hiring.
