Thread regarding Ricoh layoffs

Is this a stable company?

I am in the process of looking for employment and have final interviews scheduled for various positions. I have researched the companies I am interested in - including this one. I would also love to have some feedback from employees on morale, manager/employee engagement, and so on. I’d appreciate any help.

This is a horrible company! I left a year ago and should have left 15 ago! If you’re actually seriously looking for work here I have concerns about your decision making criteria... unless of course you’re really desperate or flipping burgers... scratch that: there’s a market for burgers.

Really depends on the unit and business unit, function and role you are looking to work for. It’s a company that’s either on a long decline or in a heavy transition period. Covid has aggravated the circumstances of the company but there’s a lot of old school thinking on many levels of the company.

I suggest you learn how to read an annual report and start from 2012. Then ask yourself if Ricoh is in a better position now or then. If the market isn't printing and you placed all your eggs in one basket, it won't be pretty.

This place is laying off their talent and retaining their low performers in order to reduce cost. They are systematically laying off higher paid employees, older employees, tenured employees in order to reduce their payroll and benefit expenses. They could potentially have several lawsuits for discrimination as its very evident the company is not NOT using performance metrics and performance reviews when determining layoffs.

Place is a cesspool. "Toxic" as someone put it on a previous message would actually be putting it nicely.

Don’t do it. The company is toxic as hell with a cutthroat atmosphere. The more toxic someone is the longer they stay. Being laid off was the best thing that happened to me.

NO. Not stable at all. I would run as far away as possible. Unless of course you enjoy misery.

I left this horrid hole by choice pre pandemic and can assure you the feedback from poster below is accurate for even 5 years pre-covid. Former colleagues tell me toxicity has only increased and looks like they will be breaking their junk business units up into spinoffs in a few months. This industry has its challenges but you're definitely looking at bottom of the barrel. I'd happily eat dirt and live in the woods before going back.

This company is terrible. If you are just getting in it deny the interview unless you really need the job. If you choose to take it then that’s your choice but understand some things.

  1. There is no moving up if your manager is an a–hole and opportunities in some areas are limited. Higher up in the states is better.
  2. Raises or cost of living increase are typically 2 to 3% which is average don’t expect bonuses or any other benefits.
  3. Health insurance with this company is a joke. Even at the highest level $400+ a month they only cover 85% once you pay your deductible.
  4. The companies leadership is f—ing broken. All they look at is the bottom line. They have been reducing people constantly for the last four years.

If all this isn’t enough to change your mind then my god bless your soul because your CHOOSING to goto hell.
