The rest of the industry has been dealing with layoffs for years. Significant layoffs finally happen at XOM and employees sh– their pants. Just remember, you will probably never have such a cushy job again.

Most millennials didn’t drink the Kool-Aid and invest in XOM stock. We’ll be okay.
This is a voluntary program followed by an involuntary cut of poor performers. It is overdue. Looks like it does not encourage early retirements so the result will hammer mid career...millenials.
Sad but true...
XOM pays me enough to retire early. A severance package is gravy.

Oh please. Exxon has been cutting for years too. The issue was not being laid off but the manipulative unethical way Exxon tried to cover up the lay-off so keep talking until your cut and you’ll be right back here crying.
OP: Well said. The negative comments reminds me how truth hurts. I can say almost all my colleagues in the upstream seem to be on d–gs called ExxonMobil process and paycheck. Shame on them to now see where the company has been heading and how they and the management have destroyed the corporation.

Shouldn’t misread the post of a few disgruntled EM staff as the rest of us are unaware of the real world. Like many in the industry we have faced difficulty and overcome and will do now! Best company with amazing talent!
