Confirmed, Genentech plans to eliminate 80 permanent positions and end many other independent contracts from their Hillsboro site. Similar cost cut toning initiatives are planned for their Vacaville and South San Francisco sites.

Yeah, that felt pretty distasteful to me and really made me lose trust in the company. Layoffs s—, but especially during this time it seems pretty terrible. I kept my job, but my function lost a member when we already have been overworked for years. I don't see the transformation changing anything and the only reason I might stay is that my job is very niche, and I don't want to move. But I feel stagnant in my role and the 3% salary increase each year isn't keeping up with housing.
I did submit an application to another company because I don't trust that my position will be here long-term now. Seems the new company I applied to has similar issues, go figure.
Yep..I got the axe. They've been toting this as "transformation" to "reduce societal costs" d–g prices have yet to go down..They had us HELP them create value streams and promised it didn't mean terminations. As it got closer and closer, we all saw the writing on the wall. They purposefully had us work short to see if we could do it. We proved we could so they're eliminating down to "doable" in the middle of a pandemic and right before the holidays. Yep, Genentech REALLY cares about society.
