Going back into the union from salary has nothing to do with the contract.

I have seen quite a few managers and senior managers who went back to being engineers/SPEEA as Level 5 and 6 and keeping most of their compensation.

They just move the managers/salary workers to the floor and into the iam and the union stays mum and lay off a machinist.
They do get layed off eventually and end up as Walmart greeters.
Who is going to sign our ETS, forward emails and approve vacation requests? It takes a lot of skills to do that. Thats why they make the big bucks. We are doomed.
A computer app can do this for a fraction of the cost.
We”ll see, Boeing has the tendency to hang on to these boot lickers who have 0 technical knowledge. During my 12 years at Boeing, I saw very little good technically sound managers!
