Promotions make no sense

Who else has noticed that lately all the people that are being promoted don't even know how to do their core jobs? All the while people with decades of experience and hands-on knowledge are being ignored and passed over. How does this make any sense? And how is it good for the company?

Yes it’s actually normal behavior common to mankind. If you are a high level manager and going to promotE someone to a manager Laotian under you, you want someone who is going to be easy to with and who will buy in to your philosophy. You don’t need someone going rogue, fighting you on issues, creating a perception that you two don’t get along (people will say you have bad bad leadership and can’t lead your team if you two are infighting). The downside to this is that it creates yes people and does not help the business by promoting “your” people instead of those who would perform best for the bottom line. If and by the way, performing beta for the bottom like is not all about what is done. It is also about people treatment. Good treatment and empowering the people below you will allow innovation and more work will be done. In a culture where people are afraid to mess up, they naturally do less and collaborate less.

Standard business. Promote people you like.

And yes, inspiring to see yet more cheap recruitment going on. Nice one BVB.

Y'all are getting promotions?? Well how about that. All we are getting in IT is people being hired in another country.
