Thread regarding Husky Energy Inc. layoffs

Is there any way to know?

How can we determine when the merger-related layoffs will take place? If nothing is about to happen before next year, I'd like to know. It's not that I wouldn't still worry, but I wouldn't worry as much as I do when I'm thinking about something possibly happening every single day.

"If you're with CVE I wouldn't worry too much", that's unlikely. These are two very different companies that merged to make a more well rounded powerhouse of a company. They both have key assets and people that make them run like a well oiled machine. I would say there are going to be losses all around and both Husky and Cenovus are going to be hit hard. It's unfortunate for all the great people but it's inevitable, no one should worry too much as it can't be controlled - both parties will be affected and there's nothing we can do.

Have you seen Suncor’s numbers? They reported yesterday. Everyone is going to have a large loss with the price crash.

"Husky Energy Inc. reported a nearly $7.1-billion loss in its latest quarter"
Holy c-ap, I would start looking for work if I were you

You can get some idea from the Q3 earning report that was released this morning:

I sure wouldn’t want to be a contractor right now. You’re toast and no severance. Ugh

There is no way to tell however Husky has generally refrained from mass layoffs on Monday's or Friday's. Earnings could provide some insight but likely it's a waiting game. Watch for your manager to stop looking you in the eye or checking up even less than now. I would say work hard but that doesn't get you anywhere in this place so you may as well have an extra coffee run each day.

If your with CVE I wouldn't worry to much unless your sitting around idle with nothing to do!
If your with Husky I would start looking to see what's out there and maybe apply on a few, jobs if your lucky and they let you go, they give you a severance package and then you start at a new place.
