No one is safe in this day and age. Canada has different laws which don't allow some of things I have read to occur in Canada but it still s—s.
Keep in mind 2 things.
#1 you can say we have health care and that's true but compared to the total taxes paid, my tax rat (just income tax for province, federal tax, plus cpp and EI equals to about 43% of my salary, plus 5% federal sales tax and ranging from 0-9% provincial sales tax.
#2 imperial oil does not have the 40000 strong mount Olympus (campus) plus most sites in Canada were already lean, and we had cuts, and are even leaner, there really is nothing left on the bone and there are still contractors doing EE jobs. Most sites are smaller and make money.... if you are attached to a site and doing your job, head down A$$ up youll be fine. And cuts will be HOF
Lol. No. Same could be said about Europe and you can see how that was handled.
Imperial will for sure be affected too... just look around the numerous projects being downsized in the last few months, so draw your own conclusions on what the outcome will be in Q1 2021. Also, consider Imperial has to compete with several more profitable BU's in the world.
They’re not big on socialized healthcare so they won’t like it here.
you neighbor at north has always open door policy and welcome new immigrant from all over the world,..you may be surprised how many Canadian or US citizens have dual citizenship... you are always welcome to visit and choose to stay if you like !
Stop projecting.
It’s okay to admit you’re jealous of our healthcare and handling of COVID-19.
When the hell will Exxon get rid of this corrupt, low IQ, backward and inbred place called Canada already?
Imperial operates as a charitable trust, with the sole purpose of supplementing the country's universal health care, by providing employment to Canadians. If the few hardworking employees that genuinely work are laid off, who will support the lazy, incompetent managers, many who were recently promoted during the pandemic. Imperial employees can breathe easy, you are safe.
That’s the legacy plan. Newer hires are on the 62 plan, regardless of years of service...so some people (like me) need 40+ years for a full pension. S—s.
You can’t even take the full commuted value of your pension because of CRA restrictions.
Yes, Canada is safe until their announcement comes
Doesn't canada have age plus service formula for retirement eligibility plus service must equal 85?
No, they are not safe.
At least if you are let go, you will have health care and not die bankrupt.
Canada is not safe. Announcement coming in next few weeks.
Communication to us today was next week.
Not true. Canada's study is coming up next week.
This was a US study assessment only.
Yes Canada is safe, there were few people there to begin with and not so much extra meat.
