From the article...
“Our hearts go out to all the cast members at Walt Disney World,” said Kate Shindle, president of Actors' Equity Association. “Disney has made it clear that our members would face work reductions since they announced layoffs of nearly 28,000 employees. That does not make this news any less painful.”

The union said before the pandemic about 780 of its members were either full time, part time or seasonal at the parks. They said about 60 are currently working or about to return to work in the park.

Stripping away the magic piece by piece will make even more Guests stay away. All these unique experiences that helped to make Disney special are all but gone. The parks have entered the dark ages. Even the biggest park fanatics will be questioning the value of their experience.

Over 700 performers laid off. It's hard to imagine to what extent entertainment will return when the bean counters cost benefit analyze entertainment's perceived return on investment. I can only imagine it be be like this, "Well, we've gotten along without it this long, why spend money to add it back." My heart goes out to all the talented CMs that just had the rug pulled out from under them.
