Thread regarding Cengage layoffs

Anyone know anything about GPT meeting tomorrow?

Hearing rumors of a reorganization. Maybe layoffs?

Sure hope ET remembers everything their employees have done for them.

It was not a layoff discussion in any way. The CTO walked through some priorities for 2021 with justification and then covered a few other random things.

Investor call coming up in next couple of weeks. This gives MH and team something positive (cost reduction measures) to discuss, versus what will certainly be double-digit losses.

@1gmm+17EpipEr Of course it is. Anyone who has worked here for a while knows that sudden all-division meetings being scheduled with no context is usually an indicator for layoffs.

Not a lay-off discussion

So is the Global Project Technology a department at Cengage that might be getting laid off? Or is this layoff gonna be through sales and customer support as well as other departments?

The one thing I can tell you is that if the meeting is being held on a Friday it's usually to announce either:

  • Middle Management has been let go and reporting is changing
  • A group has been eliminated

Cengage historically drops the hammer on Thursdays and informs on Fridays.

What does GPT mean? Is it a single group facing layoffs at Cengage or the company as a whole? What time is the meeting?
