Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Who is shouldering their work?

Considering that some of the people who have been laid off were essential for the work of their teams, who is expected to shoulder their work? Are they going to bring in new, fresh out of college replacements we'll have to train? Or is it simply expected that we now have to add their workload to ours?

And yes, these are all rhetorical questions, I'm well aware of the answer. I'm just wondering how long we'll keep accepting this...

Who will deploy Unity on Azure and GCP? All my customers are asking for this. They also need to migrate ASAP from TensorFlow to MLE aka Aster. Plus AppCenter - big differentiator, game changer

i understand that in these trying times, the true nature of man toward another shows what he really is. some are still good, and some not that good..

the post is racist. period. the one who posted it and everyone who upvoted it are all frustrated at work, simply because of job security..

we can't blame them, cost is one of the factor of the business..

I was laid of as well, I accepted the package.. and I'm moving forward.

we have no right to put down people, simply because we are hurt..

Don’t count on ELT even having a plan, I’m pretty sure ME & CT’s not considering their “I WANT IT NOW” demands won’t last long with a time difference re: India & Manila. They’re both mo–ns whose bad abusive behavior will hopefully catch up to them soon.

Well, ultimately it is market driven. If you think India is cut and paste and quality is not good, just do not send work there and find a better alternative.
India is not US. We all know it. Find a better player in the market . Simple.
No need of any racist innuendos please . That does not make you greater !

I agree this is getting racist. Bunch of losers crying on their own hypocrisy. If you had guts why did you not speak up when you were employed or when the All Hands happened.

i think the post is not intimidating. the point is that given that they are copy/paste, they are still able to pull it out.

they been innovative in many ways already and have contributed a lot of automation used by the org..

their main edge is the cost...

this is true not only in TD but to other companies I've been with for the past 20 years

Stop trying to intimidate people by calling them racists for simply recognizing truths. Sorry if I hurt your feelings. People of all colors and ethnicities with real talent and skills hate your whiners that give us all a bad name.

i see some racist posts here.. regardless of the copy/paste norm, the point that they were able to deliver at a lower cost is a good thing. as long as it is working, then I think it is good, and improvements will come along the way.

posting that kind of words against a co-worker really shows your true colors against that particular race..

I do feel bad that I'm losing my work here in TD, but hell, it's not for me to decide..

Let's be professional and not be a racist person.

Isn’t Teradata in this situation because of software development occurring in India for sometime now? What a great plan Teradata, see how much more you can s—!

"we've been working side by side with teams over there. so it will be easy for us transition to cover your work." Oh sure, unless you have a step by step checklist, you won't get far. Thinking on your feet, and having your own conclusions, and deep troubleshooting ability's don't lend themselves to the India copy/paste and scripts-reading work ethic. So glad you are getting our jobs (j/k), but don't worry, we will figure out a way to automate most of your work too, so don't get too smug over there.

that is correct. we've been working side by side with teams over there. so it will be easy for us transition to cover your work. this will be a good year for us albeit more work.
