Thread regarding Lenovo layoffs

Something brewing in DCG?

People I haven't heard from in well over a year are all of a sudden reaching out like desperate lemmings. I have received at least 7 connection requests in the last couple of days since the weekend on LI. People not willing to assist when laid off all of a sudden looking for assistance out of desperation. People I have had no contact with at all, not even a how are things going or what's up, looking for networking opportunities, job opportunities. Some of them in upper management which leads me to believe something is brewing before year end. I could be wrong. They may just be waking up to the notion that Lenovo is a horrible company to work for.

For those in DCG, keep your eyes and ears open. My experience is rumors are far more truth than not.

I got calls from two past coworkers in the last few days. Both looking for opportunities out of Lenovo. Since they are not in the office, the rumor mongers are not able to do the normal talk. It is also much easier for the ELT to keep it quiet. But coming from who had called me, they have always been in the know before which leads me to believe 70/30 that something is coming down the pipe and people are going to get blindsided.

I’m hearing what is left of DCG in the US will be moved to China.
That is probably the reason for the exec scramble. Takes a while for the rumor to make it down to us worker bees.

If they we're willing to help you when you needed it, I wouldn't offer to help them now. You reap what you sow. If you do decide to help those who turned their backs on you, you're a better person than I am.

DCG has been losing money for years, It would not surprise me if it finally folded shop in some fashion or another. I know people are sticking around to be laid off to receive a nice severance, but this is not a good strategy; severances are not always guaranteed and you are wasting your life at a miserable, toxic company. It may not be easy, but skill up, become more marketable and leave on your own terms.
