When you are run by clowns what do you expect? Not a single director level in Teradata sales or PS is technical. We still have MP's running around talking from slides and not generate any sales. No wonder the day has come to close doors. Sell whatever IP is remaining to AWS, Dell, IBM or MS. Give the employees a good package so that they can find another jobs. The sheer incompetence of management is at display with Teradata for past 5 years and it has ruined careers. It started with VL and his experiment. The board is spineless and they never got rid of VL. The think big was only on paper which caused even more issues.

Teradata suffers from two major problems: lack of growth opportunities (how many major coprporations do not use Teradata?) and a bloated culture. SM is addressing the bloat, but without creating revenue opportunities the ship is still sinking, only at a somewhat slower pace. Supposedly Vantage was the pathway to revenue rowth, but in this age of open-source data science, it is a non-starter.
Re - prep for sale - the layoff on its own not necessarily. Maybe only if corroborated with the lack of strategical clarity? Any other arguments?
All these motions look more and more like a prep for a sale. It started to make more sense why SM decided to take on CEO role in this sinking ship.

Which team are you talking about?
Entire team that was on pace for 161% of quota and huge payoff...gone!
MLE, Appcenter - sounds like Vantage is being deprecated
Heard Appcenter going on maintenance mode.
I still don't understand why covalent is still around zero profitability and when you are laying off or canceling projects those project managers need to leave as well it seems like they are being saved.
Transparency only goes one way.
I believe almost all teams got at least some head count reduction..it wasn't just whole teams who got hit.
Known so far - Unity, Stacki, MLE. Anymore? Can anyone share the remote location numbers?
