I left on my own a few years ago. I was happy to find a good job with good pay and job security. Which lasted for about two years. Now we're having monthly layoffs and I'm back where I've started, it seems. I just wanted to check if things have improved any here? I don't plan on returning, just trying to asses just how big of a mistake I might have made.

Sandy, put down the bottle, get off this site and get back to work
We are blessed to be led by Sandy, who is a great leader who inspires our associates. We have eliminated many levels of managerial oversight and as a result can make decisions more quickly and move the needle to support our customers and associates. Do not listen to the naysayers - Staples is on the right track!
We are currently a rudderless ship. Left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Everything is a priority. My current list of measurables is about 45. Rush into things with little planning. Very reactive, not proactive. All the higher ups working from home are clueless to what is going on at store level. Massive payroll cuts. Just be thankful you have a job is the message we get.
What department were you in? No matter, I would say you made the right decision. Staples is as lean as you can imagine (until the next round of layoffs) and so many ‘priorities’ with no real decision making. Everything continues to be ‘do everything, do it yesterday’, and all higher ups from all departments will push their thumb down on you to get it done. It’s exhausting, stressful, and very demotivating.
