Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Let’s all vow to leave TD

I know everyone here at TD are better off working somewhere else than here. At least we won’t have this f—ing anxiety of layoffs every now and then.

No one expects their company NOT to have lay offs, but TD is definitely the first employer of mine who purges people every Q4. It's like an unhealthy relationship; I stay because I love my job, freak out from Oct-Jan, exhale when I make it, then start the cycle all over again. And yes, I will be searching for a new opportunity in 2021 because it's definitely not fun to worry about getting axed no matter how hard you work when Q4 rolls around.

To the question about TD laying off only to rehire, the answer is YES! After every big layoff we’ve seen a sudden hiring surge but only for the departments “in the popular club”. TD is much more political & high school-like than they lead the public to believe. I’m guessing JJ didn’t get many people cut (if any), AND WHY IS CT STILL THERE?

Guys, I got laid off last year I was so p-ss-d off and they also mistakenly revoked my work visa for which they spent nearly 7000 $(what a waste) to get it for me I got a good severance package. the thing is whoever getting laid off today is extremely talented and you will find a very good job in weeks with a much better salary and respect trust me you guys will be fine.

Is it the case every where? So do they keep hiring to the same teams aagain after a layoff everywhere? Everytime leadership changes this has become a norm to fire and then hire. Can you say what steps are taken to improve efficiency or better leadeship or strategy or culture ? Hey you PR guys busy making this look normal, please answer.

Believe it or not but there are far worse places to work. Always good to look around but make sure to read the glassdoor reviews and chat with some former employees before jumping.

Are you going to make a vow at every company you work at in future that will layoff its people?
In the corporate world, no company owes you anything.

Every organization that I’ve worked for in the past 20+ years uses layoffs to improve their bottom line. It’s not just TD.

"Isn’t that the case anywhere else as well?"

Only in companies like Teradata that have been mismanaged for years.

My husband was laid off in the big purge of 2015. I just saw on Twitter you are cutting again - that's a bummer. I think there was another cut in 2019 and this year in September. I am so sorry you guys have to put up with this - I've met some of you, great people and brilliant engineers. I wish you all the best.
