Have you wondered how the next round of job cuts will be communicated to U.S. employees? It’s been revealed that Spring Campus employees will be told to report for work at the campus on November 2. Once there, a large scale game of Musical Chairs will be held in the Quad with Darren as MC. The games will continue until 2000 employees have failed to find a chair when the music stops. Darren will then announce those employees no longer work for ExxonMobil and they will be rushed off Company property by Security. Granted, this process is more dignified than the one used to discard the unusually large group of NSIs this year, but word is that Darren told HR to come up with a more humane process this time. I don’t know about you but this type of care and empathy makes me proud of my company and I know they will do right by me in the future!

Says the person who doesn't understand english grammar..
It's an ignorant dumbshit you mo–n.
I worked for ExxonMobil for 10 years before leaving on my own accord. The reason - company culture and total lack of care from management. From everything I read, I made a good decision.
I’ve work for CVX for the past 6 years and have gone through 3 ROMs. I can’t say that this has been easy or fun, but it has been transparent. I have had a say in my future and the ability to sell myself into positions. Is it perfect? No. Are people left standing and do people get layed off? Yes, but that was going to happen anyway given the business and times we are in.
My suggestion, if your are layed off from any company, take your lessons about culture, care, and leadership and make sure your next job matches your values. You can’t change the situation you are in now, but you. An change your situation in the future.
Yes, CVX had almost everyone reapply for jobs. Those last standing are good people, knowledgeable, hard working, experienced. It’s about who you know, not what you know that will keep you employed.
BoD meeting Wednesday for approval of package; email will be sent by company presidents on Thursday (already drafted - will be different for each company); Earnings review on Friday, where highlights will be shared
care and empathy : If DW has used these words it should be translated in Facts. Look at one the Youtube video posted on the subject ‘manager - leader’. It includes some minutes on Empathy.
I still have some hope but some doubt.
Chevron is forthright enough to provide a severance to all those who lose their jobs due to a workforce reduction (ExxonMobil abruptly expanded the size of the NSI group by a factor of 3 at the last minute...wonder why?). Not surprising Chevron is the one still in the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
CVX is filling the positions based on a performance assessment and ranking. XOM does not bother with the re-apply step. Instead it keeps the best relative ranking people across all groups and re-deploys. In CVX system a top performer could lose his job, if he is in a job that is eliminated and he has specialty skills that are not needed elsewhere. XOM assumes people are smart enough to learn a new job, even if someone has the bad fortune of being in a group where the job went away...XOM method maximizes the odds that good people get positions. Both CVX and XOM have the problem...Can we effectively id the weaker people. System is undoubtedly flawed, but propose a better system to id weak performers who should be fired AND allocate salaries/promotions AND id Future Management AND ID technical develop opportunities .AND id coaching/mentoring needs. The system has to do all of these things.
@1qam+17AAGtjP I’m sure we will keep the “good ones”.. no prize for guessing the colour of their nose!
BROWN!
EM should do what Chevron just did. They had employees re-apply to the essential positions only. Those who are not selected are laid off.
LOL!! God I wish that was true 😂
In Europe they were told which positions were surplus, and it's up to management to figure out how to make the positions go away. Either layoff the people in those jobs, or shuffle people around to save the people worth keeping.
I heard the same except it will be 3000 that won’t have a chair.
